Maid of Honor vs. Bridal Attendant: What’s the Difference?

When it comes to wedding planning, the maid of honor holds a special title, job, and place in your heart. But on your wedding day, you also want your MOH to be engaged with the fun, the photos, and the revelry - not running around your venue trying to find a safety pin, steaming bridesmaid dresses, or MIA during photos because she needs to find one of the flower girls. Our bridal attendant service is for brides who want a bustle pro and dedicated professional on staff to attend to their needs.

What are a maid of honor’s responsibilities?

The maid of honor is typically the bride's nearest and dearest friend or family member. She is bestowed with the highest honor and plays a pivotal role in the wedding planning process. From helping the bride choose her wedding dress to organizing the bridal shower and bachelorette party, the maid of honor is the bride's right-hand woman. She offers emotional support, acts as a confidante, and assists with various tasks leading up to the wedding day. On the actual day, the maid of honor takes on numerous responsibilities, including helping the bride get ready, holding her bouquet during the ceremony, and giving a speech at the reception.

What are a professional bridal attendant’s responsibilities?

In some cultures, like in the South or Midwest, a bridal attendant is sometimes an honorary bridesmaid who helps out on the day of. At Long Island Bridal Attendant, we’re hired by the bride to provide essential support and assistance during your wedding day.

Think of it like this: if it’s the Oscars or Met Gala, you’re the biggest star - and we’re the one refilling your champagne and water, grabbing you a plate of fruit to eat, steaming your dress, bustling your dress during cocktail hour and fixing it if needed, making sure your lipstick is handy, and anything else you may need.

Can a bridal attendant bustle my dress?

Yes, our founder is the Bustle Pro after all! This is a major service we offer our clients. Often, brides are super anxious because their MOH, bridesmaids, or mom isn’t experienced in bustling a dress, they get overwhelmed by the task, or may not have the supplies needed to make the job easier. It can be a very daunting task for them.

The last thing you want is your bridal party googling “How to bustle a dress” while the minutes tick away during your cocktail hour - especially if they’ve had a few signature cocktails themselves by that point!

Is a bridal attendant the same thing as a wedding coordinator?

While we don’t offer planning services for our bridal attendant-only option, you can hire us as a day-of coordinator and we’ll do both for you.

We believe that your MOH, mom, and wedding party should be able to enjoy the day with you and be present. It’s your day to be treated like a celebrity - we take care of the red carpet treatment!
